UdyamGita

Vibhūti Yoga

Chapter 10 - Verse 36
द्यूतं छलयतामस्मि तेजस्तेजस्विनामहम् |
जयोऽस्मि व्यवसायोऽस्मि सत्त्वं सत्त्ववतामहम् || 36||

Translation

I am gambling among the deceitful vices. I am the splendour in the
splendid. I am victory in the victorious. I am conviction in the steadfast. I
am purity in the pious.

Unfiltered First Take

Life can be unpredictable, and so can business contexts and parameters. Keep an eye on all the factors that may impact the business, have counter actions ready for adversities, and be mentally prepared. Keep in mind that success is a chance and not a guaranteed outcome. This understanding helps you stay balanced when desired outcomes are not achieved. It also reminds you that if the universe conspires, one can beat anyone in the game, and such a win is not purely personal but depends on many other factors. Try to find patterns even in unexpected outcomes, as this prepares you better for what comes next. Be the one who can alter the fate of individuals who join you. Understand that blind faith, greed, and desire block rational thinking and push people toward actions that are damaging and destructive.

Be the one who creates exceptional excellence using available resources. Be the reason for the victory of the business, and thereby the victory of everyone associated with you on this journey. Be the solution to problems, not the cause of them. People should approach you for solutions, guidance, and mentoring. Your presence itself should create positive energy among people and motivate them to excel in life.

UdyamGita Interpretation

Krishna acknowledges the full spectrum of human action—from deception to brilliance, from chance to certainty. He does not deny unpredictability; He places Himself even within it. Yet He clearly distinguishes where true strength lies: not in chance alone, but in resolve, virtue, and disciplined excellence.

This verse reminds us that while outcomes may fluctuate, character and intent remain decisive forces.

Business Insight

Business, like life, is inherently unpredictable.

Markets change, assumptions fail, external forces intervene. Entrepreneurs must remain alert to all variables that can impact the business—economic shifts, competition, regulation, talent dynamics—and prepare counter-actions for adversity.

Understanding that success is never guaranteed keeps founders mentally balanced. When outcomes don’t match effort, they don’t collapse. When success arrives, they don’t inflate. This realism preserves clarity.

Sometimes, despite preparation, luck plays a role. When that happens, wise entrepreneurs recognize that victory is never purely individual—it is shaped by timing, people, environment, and circumstance. Instead of arrogance, they search for patterns within unpredictability, learning from even unexpected outcomes to prepare better for the next move.

Blind faith, unchecked greed, and excessive desire cloud judgment. Entrepreneurs must guard their teams against such mindsets, because irrational optimism often leads to destructive decisions.

Leadership Lesson

Great leaders create victory through resolve and virtue.

Entrepreneurs must aim to extract exceptional outcomes from available resources. Excellence is not about abundance—it is about utilization. Leaders who consistently turn constraints into results become natural problem-solvers whom others trust.

Such leaders alter trajectories. People who join them grow—not just financially, but in confidence, capability, and clarity. Over time, founders become reference points—approached for guidance, mentoring, and solutions.

The presence of a strong leader creates energy. Teams feel motivated to excel not because they are forced, but because they are inspired by consistency, resolve, and ethical grounding.

Victory, in its truest sense, becomes collective.

  • Detachment from outcomes preserves balance and judgment.
  • Look for patterns even in unexpected successes or failures.
  • Unchecked greed and blind faith distort rational decision-making.
