UdyamGita

Sankhya Yoga

Chapter 2 - Verse 62,63

Translation

One who keeps contemplating on sense pleasures develops an
attachment and obsession with them, which leads to desire in experiencing
such pleasures. This desire in turn leads to anger in the event of not being
able to satisfy these desires. Anger leads to delusion and clouds one’s mind
about right and wrong. This delusion leads one to forget injunctions against
forbidden activities. This forgetfulness in turn leads to failure in intellectual
judgement. Loss of intellect results in one’s downfall.

Unfiltered First Take

Any diversion or distraction should be nipped at the bud. What may look like a small distraction can slowly create a habit or attachment. This can eventually lead to addiction, and when these addictions are not fulfilled, they create dissatisfaction and anger.

The entrepreneur may then start throwing anger or showing irritation without any valid reason. This spoils harmony and the overall company atmosphere. Negativity spreads quickly, and business decisions start taking a beating. When the business takes a hit, it can push the entrepreneur back to the same place from where the business journey started.

UdyamGita Interpretation

Krishna now explains the downward spiral of the mind.

He lays out a clear sequence: contemplation leads to attachment, attachment turns into desire, unfulfilled desire becomes anger, anger clouds judgment, confused judgment distorts memory, and once intellect collapses, a person is ruined.

This is not a philosophical warning—it is a psychological map of self-destruction.

Business Insight

For an entrepreneur, every distraction must be nipped at the bud.

What appears as a small, harmless diversion can slowly turn into habit and then attachment. Over time, attachment becomes addiction. When these addictions are not fulfilled, dissatisfaction and anger arise.

This anger often has no direct or valid reason. The entrepreneur starts reacting sharply, showing irritation at the wrong places and the wrong people. Slowly, the working environment begins to suffer.

Leadership Lesson

Uncontrolled anger and irritation disturb organizational harmony.

Negativity spreads quickly within teams. Communication weakens. Trust erodes. Decision-making quality declines. As judgment gets clouded, business decisions start taking a beating.

When this cycle continues unchecked, the entrepreneur risks being pushed back to the very place from where the entrepreneurial journey began—losing momentum, clarity, and control.

This is why Krishna’s warning is not about morality, but about survival.
