The Gita Blueprint for Leading and Winning in Business

UdyamGita

Karma Yoga

Chapter 3 - Verse 26
न बुद्धिभेदं जनयेदज्ञानां कर्मसङ्गिनाम् |
जोषयेत्सर्वकर्माणि विद्वान्युक्त: समाचरन् || 26||

Translation

Let not the wise unsettle the minds of ignorant ones attached to
actions performed without proper knowledge. Learned ones should conduct
their activities with their minds focused on the Lord and inspire ignorant
people through their action.

Unfiltered First Take

As employees tend to emulate their leader’s behavior, the leader should never set a wrong path by being a poor example, for any reason. Employees operate at different levels of maturity, work ethics, and dedication. A founder cannot assume that everyone will understand the reasons behind his actions or remain unaffected by them. There are certain basic qualities that every employee is expected to demonstrate every day, such as trust, availability, dedication, alignment, and similar fundamentals. As a founder, he must consistently embody these qualities at all times. There should be no room for doubt or personal interpretation on these aspects.

Therefore, as long as a founder holds his role, he must perform his duties with dedication every single day, strictly as defined by the roles and responsibilities of that position. If his personal goals have been achieved, he should set them aside and continue to work with the same dedication and mindset. He may redefine his purpose and set new goals to sustain the same passion. If organizational goals are achieved, it is time to raise the bar, find bigger reasons, and work with even greater energy and purpose. But above all, he must keep working.

UdyamGita Interpretation

Krishna offers a subtle yet critical leadership principle. The wise must not disturb the minds of those who are still attached to results or lack maturity by urging them toward inaction or premature detachment. Instead, the enlightened should lead through example, performing their duties in a balanced and purposeful way, thereby inspiring others to do the same.

True wisdom uplifts—it does not confuse.

Business Insight

In organizations, employees naturally emulate their leaders.

A founder cannot assume that everyone possesses the same level of maturity, context, or clarity. Teams are composed of individuals at different stages of work ethics, dedication, and understanding. What may seem like a harmless personal choice by the leader can become a dangerous signal for the organization.

There are certain non-negotiable daily behaviors expected from everyone:

  • Trust
  • Availability
  • Dedication
  • Alignment
  • Ownership

The founder must consistently embody these qualities. There should be no ambiguity and no room for individual interpretation on these fundamentals.

Leadership Lesson

A founder must perform their duties every single day, regardless of personal milestones.

If personal goals are achieved, they must be consciously set aside. If company goals are met, the bar must be raised. Leadership does not pause at success—it evolves.

Wise leaders do not preach detachment; they demonstrate disciplined engagement. They continue working with the same energy and commitment, finding newer, higher reasons to serve—growth, stability, mentorship, and societal impact.

Stopping sends confusion. Consistency builds trust.
