Chapter 3 - Verse 28
तत्त्ववित्तु महाबाहो गुणकर्मविभागयो: |
गुणा गुणेषु वर्तन्त इति मत्वा न सज्जते || 28||

Translation

O Arjuna, The one with strong arms! Learned ones, aware of the
distinction in the attributes and activities between the Lord and ordinary
souls, know that their sense organs perform their activities as willed by the
Lord. Such people will not get entangled in worldly life.

Unfiltered First Take

A true entrepreneur never judges his employees. Employees carry a lot of baggage when they come to work. It can be good, bad, or worse. Every employee’s mood is different throughout the day. They are human, and humans have complex mental states that keep changing. Each person usually has a certain personality of their own, but at times they may behave differently.

A true entrepreneur understands that there is a background to such behavior. The person has not changed, but certain elements in their life may have changed. If the behavior is not adverse and is not consistent, the entrepreneur should let such incidents pass and continue to trust the employee. Many times, it is external triggers that influence behavior, not a change in intent or work ethics.

Understanding an employee’s intent and work ethics amid chaos and temporary behavioral changes helps an entrepreneur become a true leader.

UdyamGita Interpretation

Krishna explains the vision of the truly enlightened. Such individuals clearly distinguish the self from the gunas and actions. They understand that it is the qualities of nature—working through mind, senses, and circumstances—that interact with external situations. Knowing this, they do not get emotionally entangled in behavior, outcomes, or transient states.

Wisdom brings detachment without indifference.

Business Insight

A true entrepreneur does not rush to judge employees.

Every individual walks into the workplace carrying unseen baggage—personal challenges, emotional fluctuations, external pressures, and changing mental states. Human behavior is not static; it shifts with circumstances. While core intent and values remain stable, surface behavior may vary from day to day.

A wise entrepreneur understands that behavioral variation does not always signal character failure. Often, it is the result of temporary triggers, not declining commitment or ethics.

Leadership Lesson

Leadership maturity lies in separating intent from expression.

If an employee’s behavior is:

  • not harmful,
  • not unethical,
  • not consistently disruptive,

then isolated incidents should be met with understanding, not judgment. Maintaining trust during such moments strengthens loyalty and psychological safety.

By focusing on long-term intent and work ethic—rather than momentary behavior—leaders build resilient teams that recover quickly from chaos and perform with confidence.

Key Takeaways

  • Do not confuse temporary behavior with permanent intent.
  • Employees are humans first, professionals second.
  • Behavior is often triggered by circumstances, not values.
  • Judgment weakens trust; understanding strengthens it.
  • True leadership sees beyond actions into intent.
